SYNOPSIS

« Le Kurdish lover, c’est Oktay, l’homme d’origine Kurde dont je partage l’existence. Nous sommes partis chez lui, dans une région sinistrée, figée par la guerre et la misère.
Comment les gens vivent-ils ensemble à cet endroit? C’est la question que pose ce film. Au Kurdistan, on vit dans une grande proximité physique et morale. L’amour se confond souvent avec l’emprise. Et c’est avec un humour souvent noir que les personnages du film trouvent le moyen d’affirmer qu’ils existent bel et bien, au milieu de leur communauté.
Un chamane entre en transe devant la télévision, une bergère habite au sommet de la montagne et voudrait en descendre, un ermite en manque de sexe rêve de se marier, des militaires surveillent le village, une vieille femme empêche sa belle-fille d’apprendre à lire, une brebis est sacrifiée et partagée entre les habitants d’un village, un homme venu d’Europe part demander la main d’une jeune fille avec sa mère.
A travers ces situations, on découvre des familles qui trouvent comme elles le peuvent, une façon de vivre ensemble, pour tirer le meilleur – ou le pire – de chaque instant. »

 » The Kurdish lover is Oktay, a man of Kurdish origin with whom I share my life. We have been drifting through a devastated region brought to a standstill by war and economic misery. How do people manage to co-exist in this place? This is the question posed by the film.
Here we live in close proximity to one another, in a tightly woven network of geographical and social ties. Loving someone can become confused with having a hold over them. It is with an often black humour that the characters
featured in this film find ways, within their community, to affirm that they truly exist.
A shaman goes into trance in front of the television, sex-starved hermit dreams of marriage, a ewe is sacrificed
and eaten, an old woman prevents her daughter-in-law from learning to read, a shepherdess lives at the top of
the mountain and would like to return to the valley, the military watch over the village, a man who came from
Europe goes off to request the hand in marriage of a young girl living with her mother.
It is through these situations that we discover the reality of families doing what they can to find a way of living
together, to take the best – or the worst – from each moment. “

SYNOPSIS
Le spectacle « Black Spring » est une interrogation du regard occidental sur l’Afrique, à travers ses corps.
Le film se saisit de la matière dansée du spectacle, qui, confrontée à des images de l’Afrique d’aujourd’hui, élargit notre propos vers une question essentielle, celle de notre regard sur l’Autre.

The film « Black Spring » questions our way of looking at african bodies in movement. How can we surpass the numerous clicés that arise from our purely western perception of Africa?
Taken out of their usual context and endowed with a certain abstraction, the dancers’ movements are filmed in such a way as to reflect very singular experiences through movement.
